Association’s 2011 Annual Meeting
It was on a beautiful late summer day, on August 27, that our Association held its annual meeting in the hall of the Cercle des fermières in the municipality of St. Eugene, Ontario, where we had previously met in 2005 and 2010.
The meeting began at 10:30 a.m. Our President, Liliane G., welcomed the members. After the approval of the minutes from the 2010 meeting, she then recapped the Association’s activities for the year. She notably mentioned the association’s project to produce family trees for those who would be interested to get one.
The approval of the Treasurer’s report and the renewal of the auditor’s appointment followed. Finally, the assembly renewed the terms of Serge (#450) and Diane Pilon-Lucignani (#367) on the Executive Committee. Jean-Guy (#381) and Isabelle (#563), on the other hand, declined the renewal of their terms.
The President then introduced Claude Arsenault of the Society for the Preservation of Pointe Claire’s Heritage. He informed the members of the projects of his Society and their wish to acquire the Antoine Pilon house in Pointe-Claire. The goal is to convert it into an interpretation centre. A fund raising campaign is envisioned and the Society will be looking for partners.
After the assembly, Mr. Arsenault told the members about the research his society has done on the land registers from the Sulpician priests in Pointe Claire. He also made a PowerPoint presentation regarding the windmill in Pointe Claire and other buildings erected on the point over the years.
